How to apply for benefit

• Register with your local arbetsförmedling (job centre) on the first working day you are unemployed. You cannot register before for a-kassa, even if you know you will not be working on a future date.
• Fill in the form 'Anmälan om arbetslöshet'.
• Ask your previous employer to complete the form 'Arbetsgivarintyg'. If they find that difficult they are welcome to contact AEA for help!
• Send your completed application form 'Anmälan om arbetslöshet' and your employers certificate 'Arbetsgivarintyg' to AEA, Box 3536, 103 69 STOCKHOLM, as soon as possible.
• Please send us your bank details, so that you can receive your unemployment benefit directly into your swedish bank account. Use the form 'Insättning på konto'.
• AEA will send you 'Kassakort'. You must complete this card to receive your money. Then send the card to EDB, you will find the address on the reverse side of the card. You will receive further cards 'Kassakort', if you remain unemployed.
• If you've been self-employed, studying, on maternity/sick leave or working as a researcher, please contact AEA for further information.
